Korea Zinc reinitiated Zn-Pb-Cu mine exploration in Peru to secure critical mineral supply chain
Korea Zinc’s mining subsidiary in Peru, ICM Pachapaqui S.A.C., restarted exploration in its Ancash mine in Peru after years of negotiations. Korea Zinc signed an agreement with the local community Aquia last year and registered it at the governmental registration control body so as to prove its legitimacy. The agreement contemplates all phases of mining activity for decades, such as exploration, construction, concentration, and in-outbound logistics. It is a result of having overcome anti-outsider perception and will mitigate the Andean typical social unrest, ensuring status stability. The project is a part of business integration from mining to refinery, securing the raw material supply chain of critical mineral zinc.
