Korea Zinc announced on September 9 that it will invest approximately 15 billion won (approximately $11.5 million) in the robotics solutions company ROBOne to secure management rights. The investment will be made through the acquisition of new shares, and the funds will be used for ROBOne’s research and development (R&D) and the establishment of facilities and equipment.
This strategic move is part of Korea Zinc’s broader initiative, the “Troika Drive,” which was introduced in 2022 by Chairman Choi Yoon-beom. The Troika Drive focuses on three new business areas: renewable energy and green hydrogen, resource recycling, and secondary battery materials. By investing in ROBOne, Korea Zinc aims to enhance the synergy of its new business initiative and drive innovation in these sectors.
ROBOne, a domestic robotics company, specializes in robots and automation systems, including AI waste sorting robots and collaborative robot solutions. Korea Zinc expects to improve work efficiency and productivity by automating a significant portion of the electronic waste (E-Waste) sorting process through ROBOne’s AI waste sorting robots.
